Sowon Kim acquired her US citizenship through her mother Renerose Sison Morier-Shepherd through Immigration and Nationality Act 320 on April 12th, 2017. Both mother and daughter applied for US passports at the same time. However, due to a new, incompetent and unsupervised US Department of State employee's repeated errors, issuance of Sowon Kim’s passport was delayed by 4 months.
Presently, Korean Immigration wants Sowon’s Kim’s parents to give proof why the date of issuance of Sowon’s passport and her mother’s passport are different. Such physical proof does not exist and since Korean Immigration still require such non-existent proof and her parents have no evidence to present, the Korean government has forced Sowon Kim to renounce her Korean citizenship. Against the will of Sowon Kim and her parents, WE, Gwon Kim and Renerose Morier-Shepherd, the parents of Sowon Kim have been given no choice and appear at Seoul Immigration to renounce Sowon Kim’s citizenship of the Republic of Korea.
